A good massage should be restorative to both body and mind. My intention with massage is to bring the body back into balance, soothe sore muscles, alleviate any pain, and calm the central nervous system thus allowing the mind and spirit to settle. I use Thai massage , Myofascial Release, Reiki and many other modalities I have studied since beginning my exploration in body work 18 years ago. Beginning the massage with gentle, static pressure and rocking to warm the body, I may then include: passive stretching and isometric-resistance stretches to lengthen muscles; deep pressure and cross-fiber friction to help break up scar tissue and increase mobility; static hand holds to draw attention and energy to specific areas; gentle friction along opposing muscle groups to calm the central nervous system and often use energy work to end the session. I may recommend specific stretches and self-massage techniques to educate the client about their body and extend the benefits felt from the massage for days or weeks to follow. Most people leave the massage in a euphoric state.
